Women’s Health Week 2022: Your guide to pelvic floor health

The earlier you get some help, or even start your pelvic floor muscle training, starting your pelvic floor training can be really helpful…

The Fernwood Shine podcast is officially back! To celebrate the launch of Season 3 and Women’s Health Week 2022, we sat down with Janetta Webb, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist at Jean Hailes, for an essential chat about pelvic floor health, common pelvic floor misconceptions, plus guided pelvic floor exercises you can do daily.

Running from Monday 5 – Sunday 11 of September 2022, Women’s Health Week is the biggest week in Australia focusing on women’s health and wellbeing. Day 3 of Women’s Health Week focuses on building education around pelvic floor health, and the importance of keeping the pelvic floor muscles strong to avoid pelvic pain and other issues such as incontinence – all areas of Janetta Webb’s expertise.

In her professional life, Janetta focuses on the management of all pelvic floor issues including changes in bladder and bowel function, pelvic organ prolapse and persistent pelvic pain. Often women are hesitant to discuss pelvic floor issues or dysfunction due to embarrassment, and Janetta’s work as a pelvic floor physio aims to dispel any feelings of shame, while creating an open dialogue where women feel comfortable talking about all aspects of their health and wellbeing.

It’s our pleasure to be interviewing Janetta as part of Women’s Health Week. Come along with us as we re-launch Season 3 of the Fernwood Shine podcast with this exclusive interview. Together we can shine a light on the importance of pelvic floor health, highlight common issues that women face relating to pelvic floor, bladder and bowel function, and what people should know about their pelvic floor.
