Health care rebates now available at Fernwood clubs

As the leader in women’s health, fitness and wellness across Australia, Fernwood Fitness has known for a long time now – for 31+ years that is – that regular exercise is essential for good health and wellbeing, while also reducing the risk of lifestyle illnesses, amongst a string of other benefits. In exciting news, that sentiment will now be recognised by one of the country’s leading private health insurance providers, with Bupa now offering rebates to eligible customers on gym and health club memberships.

Fitness Australia, the peak body for fitness in Australia, revealed that it has been recognised by Bupa as an Accredited Association, signifying that members of Fitness Australia-registered gyms and health clubs are eligible for the rebate program, subject to meeting a set of criteria outlined by the health fund.

And we are thrilled that as registered Fitness Australia health and fitness clubs, our members at Fernwood Fitness’s 71 clubs throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory, Western Australia, and Tasmania may be eligible to claim a rebate on their membership. In announcing the news last week, Fitness Australia explained:

“Bupa pays benefits towards gym membership at a Bupa recognised provider for eligible customers under our Health Management program, which is designed to support the treatment, palliation or amelioration of a diagnosed health condition or conditions.”

Coverage may also extend to personal training sessions, dependent on the customer meeting Bupa’s required set of criteria, which will provide additional support for women to receive tailored, one-on-one support.

Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs Founder and Managing Director, Diana Williams, welcomed the announcement, saying the rebate program was a step in the right direction for encouraging more women to undertake preventative measures to safeguard their health and wellbeing, while also reducing their risk of lifestyle diseases.

“Regular fitness is pivotal for good health, quality of life and navigating those curveballs that life throws our way from time-to-time. We know that it can be a prevention and treatment for many ailments, from reducing the risk of lifestyle illnesses, through to supporting mental health and wellbeing, better sleep, and improved mood, as well as often managing some of the blessings that come along with being a woman, including menstruation, pre- and post-natal stages, pelvic floor conditions, menopause, and running around after little ones,” says Diana.

“As women, we take it all in our stride, but we shouldn’t have to live with health conditions that are treatable or preventable through regular exercise. We know that fitness is not about how well our jeans fit, but the immense impact it has on our overall quality of life. We hope that through Fernwood Fitness, with the support of the rebate program, more women can access the support they need to live a life full of vitality.”
