Tips for morning workout motivation

Have you ever told yourself that you’d wake up early to squeeze a workout in, but then just hit snooze? Same.

We’ve all been there, and some mornings can be more of a struggle than others – especially in the cooler months. If you’re looking for some inspiration for early morning motivation or are considering changing your workout routine from afternoon to morning, then you’ve come to the right place.

Stay on track – how to get motivated for morning workouts

Pack your gym bag the night before
Depending on how early your class or PT session is, you might not have much time to get ready and head out the door. Get prepared the night before, pack your workout essentials and anything else you may need – all that’s left is to rush out the door!

Lay out your workout clothes
Following on from packing the night before, have your workout gear ready to go. Having your clothes ready to go can save precious minutes that you can spend snoozing instead.

Choose PT
Stay motivated and accountable by booking in a PT session. You’ll be less likely to change your mind or cancel the session as you don’t want to let your trainer down or potentially forfeit the booking.

Get a good night’s sleep
Sleep is one of the most important factors in keeping you happy, healthy and energised. If you have an early workout planned for the morning, go to bed half an hour earlier. The more you get into the habit of it, the easier it will be to start your day.

Have realistic plans
If you feel like your planned start time is that tiny bit too early, push it back a bit and give yourself space. You might even like to choose shorter workouts in the morning, so you still get the benefit of movement as well as a manageable rise and shine.

Wake up at the same time every day
You know what they say – practice makes perfect! Everything gets easier with time, including building a new routine. You might not feel like a morning person straight away, but the longer you do it, the easier it’ll feel.
