5 reasons to join the gym

A community of empowered, supportive and fabulous women is just one of the many reasons you should join Fernwood in 2021

While many people got creative last year to continue their workout routine – think water jugs in place of kettle bells and lunging around the lounge room – we’re pretty happy to be back in the Fernwood gym using real equipment, supported by fitness professionals and working out amongst the community of wonderful women. Hello 2021, you’re looking bright

We know in 2020 a lot of people were searching for ‘best home workouts’ because this was the only option we had – check out our Fernwood Pulse program – but there are so many advantages that come with fronting up to the gym that just aren’t always possible from home. We might be biased, but we love the Fernwood clubs, and stepping into the club gets us into a motivated head space, ready to move our bodies.

A community of empowered women

Unlike the home gym, the real thing has a community of empowered women eager to support you and cheer you on. In saying that, we love that so many of our members joined our online and outdoor communities when they were our only options – nothing beats the power of women supporting women. In the club, take a look around at the different workouts, varying progress and looks of dedication, and you might just find yourself inspired by another woman’s workout. We also love to gather after workouts for a chat, get to know each other better and make connections.

No excuses

We know that when you’re at home, it’s much easier to find excuses to cut the workout short, skip a few steps, or miss the workout all together, because there’s a new show to binge on Netflix, new Insta stories to watch or odd jobs around the house. When you attend the gym, you’ll often find the excuses are much less present because you’ve actually made the commitment. Book your sessions at the start of the week, commit to your routine, and think about how good you’ll feel a week from now.

So much variety

There’s nothing worse than a stale workout. Group fitness and wellness classes are the ideal opportunity to lift your workout game, learn new skills and technique, and get to know other members. You never know, your new best friend might be the woman showing off her moves in Zumba class, so don’t be afraid to mix it up and try something new.

Fitness flexibility

One of the best parts of being a Fernwood member is that you get access to Fernwood Pulse, our online food, fitness and wellness hub which includes hundreds of recipes, yoga flows and Pilates classes, as well as meditation sessions to help you relax. That means you can hit the gym a few times each week, and then if on the odd occasion you work late or you’re on holidays, you can still enjoy a Fernwood session.
