Weight training helped mum of three Tamlyn lose 25kgs

“In June 2017, I re-joined Fernwood Toowoomba after having 1 and a half years off with no training and the birth of my third child. I was determined to transform my body, become fitter and look better than I ever had before.

“I was unhappy with how I looked and I longed for my pre-baby body back. I had experienced a difficult birth with my last child and felt weak physically. I had also suffered bad sciatic pain during the last part of my pregnancy and after the birth, and wasn’t even sure if I would be able to lift weights. But I had a vision and I was determined that wouldn’t stop me from achieving my goals.

“Each week I challenged myself more and I felt my strength gradually returning. I focused on only weight training and trained hard five days a week, always keeping my vision clearly in my mind. The first month I saw little changes but then weight started coming off and my determination and focus grew more and more.

I would not have got to where I am if not for this gym and the community of amazing women!

As someone who was not a ‘gym junkie’ before joining this wonderful gym, I would have felt out of place in other gyms and never joined a gym previously for that reason.

“Before starting my fitness journey I always felt people would laugh at me for my lack of fitness knowledge and bad technique in lifting weights. However Fernwood provided not only the tools for me to pave the pathway to my goals, but also a place where I could learn and grow in knowledge and confidence. It has also provided me a space where I could just put my headphones on, tune out the rest of the world in my own zone and it helped to shape me into the person that I am today.
