How Melissa changed her life in 12 weeks
I’ve been a member of Fernwood Preston for nearly four years. Up until February 2017 my training had been off and on, but my approach to fitness and wellbeing changed when I was encouraged to do Miss Muddy. At first, I was really uncertain. I thought, “There is no way I can do this, I’m not fit enough, this is going to be so hard.”
Fast forward a few weeks and I found myself saying yes to Miss Muddy – and also to the 12 Week Challenge! My Personal Trainer Tash, had written a six-week training plan for Miss Muddy, and it turned out to be a really great way to take small steps into the 12 Week Challenge.
I still remember the first week of the Challenge. It took a while to get my head around all the different components that we had to complete, such as Food Coaching, Personal Training, boot camp and filling out our journal. However, it became easier as the Challenge went on and I actually started to enjoy it!
The Challenge took just 12 weeks of my life, but it has changed me forever. For my own personal growth, the 12 Week Challenge journal was such an eye opener to my progress during that time. It includes your before and after photos, goals, achievements and the small mini challenges you set yourself every week. Once the Challenge was completed, I was able to look back and reflect on my struggles, doubts and achievements, as well as how I feel about myself now. What a great tool!
One of the goals I set for myself was to run 5km. I would run two to three times a week, and by the end of the Challenge I was able to run 10km, which was such a personal accomplishment.
Today, I am in a really positive place, not just with my fitness but also with my overall wellbeing. I have a different outlook on how I eat and choose foods that are nourishing and healthy.
My lifestyle has changed and I am moving a lot more.
I have also made amazing friendships along the way, and would not have been able to get through the Challenge without the support of the other Preston members. My amazing trainer Tash, has given me a new outlook on fitness – the support and encouragement was endless!
Looking back, I am so happy that I took the leap into the 12 Week Challenge. I am at my peak fitness and I love coming into the gym to challenge and better myself – for me and no one else.
