Motivation for doing the 12 Week Challenge

This was my fourth challenge – each year I look forward to the competition, asking my family, “Will I do it again?”

I wanted to kick start my weight loss again and the best way to do that is with the help of the great staff at Chirnside Park. Jackie, my food coach, and Sue Crook, my personal trainer, have always encouraged me to achieve great results. Every time I take on the challenge I learn something new about food and exercise and how to get the best results.

Low point

The lowest point, if any, was about the sixth or seventh week when the body says “I’m tired” but your trainers say “Work harder”. You feel like slowing down, but there was always someone at the gym saying you’re doing great or well done; the support was great.

Most enjoyable aspect

Achieving new goals was the most enjoyable part, as well as watching the scales drop. I did new classes at the gym – cycle class was my favourite experience this time, which I love thanks to the instructor Vanessa.

Key to success

Realising that I had been overweight for years, so my health and fitness was going to be a work in progress. With the help of the challenge and the staff at Fernwood Chirnside Park over the last four years I’m close to reaching my goals. Inspiration for me was how amazing being fit and healthy feels, and the support from all other women in the gym. Everyone was friendly and encouraging.

Biggest surprise

Discovering how strong I am and how far I can push myself. I can remember thinking in one bootcamp, “I will surely die during this challenge!”

Next goal

My next goal is for next year’s challenge to roll around and for me to not have to do it, because I will have reached my goal weight already.
