The 10576NAT Certificate IV in Weight Management is designed for people that wish to work within the health and fitness industry, with a focus on the development of skills and knowledge in nutrition and weight management. The qualification will educate graduates to provide weight loss coaching to a variety of clients.

Graduates of the qualification will be competent in a range of functions in the weight loss field, working collaboratively with allied health practitioners to help educate and mentor client to achieve their weight management goals. This will be achieved through the implementation of programs and services as well as working on client’s motivation.

Weight management focuses on the dietary, psychological and exercise needs of clients. Graduates will also learn the skills required to provide coaching programs and services, such as delivering presentations, designing programs and customised coaching services.

Course Structure

Successful completion of the 10576NAT Certificate IV in Weight Management requires you to complete 11 units of competency. These units are delivered and assessed across 11 different modules.

Each module requires you to complete written question and answers, case studies and projects, and a variety of practical activities. For aspects of the 10576NAT Certificate IV in Weight Management, Learners may be required to enter a work place in order to undertake training and/or assessment. Where formal training and assessment occurs in the work place, students are required to complete a Work placement agreement with the work facility.

What will I be qualified in at the end of my Certificate IV in Fitness course?

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions within the Weight Management Industry, including working independently in a broad range of settings, such as within fitness centres, weight management organisations and in their own business.

Graduates have the capacity to work with individual clients, on a one-on-one basis or deliver presentations and clinics with small groups.

It certainly is! The 10576NAT is a nationally accredited course with graduates able to register and gain insurance through the Global Weight Management Federation.

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have achieved a minimum of year 10 completion
  • Have a minimum of three years employment or volunteer experience within a customer service environment
  • Hold a relevant state working with children check
  • Have computer literacy skills to email, send and write word documents and to use basic spreadsheets.
  • Have ACSF Level 4 Literacy and Numeracy skills

What time is required?

All students learn at different rates, however it is expected that you will need to commit to a minimum of 10 to 15 hours of home study per week to complete the course. Do I need any other qualifications?

You do not require any other qualifications to enrol in the course. It is recommended that graduates complete a current first aid and CPR qualification. Fernwood Learning have an agreement with the Australia Red Cross for discounts on their first aid courses.
