The moment that Nicole pulled on her high waisted party shorts, she knew she’d reached her goal. “They’re now too baggy to wear when they used to just fit!” she says.
Life before Fernwood
Before joining Fernwood Mornington in November 2011, Nicole’s health and fitness was – by her own admission – “not the best”.
“I was putting weight back on and losing motivation,” she says, “I decided to join Fernwood and the 12 Week Challenge because I needed that extra help and push to get me back into healthier lifestyle.”
It was a wise decision. Nicole loved the challenge, loved trying the weekly workouts and doing the fitness tests to see how much she improved.
Thoughts on the challenge
“This challenge differed from anything previous that I have tried. There’s a food coach to help you with your nutrition and progress, a personal trainer to give you workouts, and friendly members so you can help each other along for that extra support.”
Nicole embraced the challenge and shed 10kg in just 12 weeks. “I gave it my all – heart, body and soul. I also enjoyed trying new foods that I haven't tried before like tofu, prawn, eggplant and salmon.”
The key to success
“I think my key to success was not giving up. I worked out 5 days a week and then sometimes did a light workout during the weekend, like swimming or bike riding. I stopped with drinking, and when I went out to the clubs, I only had one drink. And when I went out to eat I picked the healthy choices they had on the menu. The biggest thing I learnt is to EAT BETTER NOT LESS.”
How life has changed for Nicole
“Losing weight, getting fitter, and being healthy changed my life. It’s making me feel more alive and very happy, especially when I look in the mirror and see most of that round fat gone. I feel much stronger and more full of life.”
It’s a feeling Nicole wants to share: “The advice I would give to someone thinking about joining Fernwood would be just come in and check it out. The lovely ladies will show you around the gym and help you out with information if you have any questions.”
