Joanne Bradley from Fernwood Women’s Health Club’s says it’s understandable that women are wary of joining the gym as many have been burnt by other gyms in the past.
In response to consumer demands, Fernwood developed a range of flexible membership options available to ensure that they have a payment option to suit the varying budget and lifestyles of Australian women.
“Flexible memberships are great alternative for someone who doesn’t want to be locked into a contract. On the other hand, we have many members who are happy to be locked into a contract because the price is lower if you buy a 12 month membership,” Ms Bradley said.
Ms Bradley urges members to remember that if they are on a contract membership and it ceases at the end of the minimum term, your membership will continue until you advise them in writing that you wish to cancel.
“Fernwood ensures that they are open and transparent when selling memberships and all staff clearly walk the member through the cancellation terms when they are signing a contract." Ms Bradley says. “You shouldn’t be afraid to question anything in the contract that you don’t like or understand – don’t be scared to ask for clarification.”
Most importantly, know your rights and responsibilities and don’t ever sign if you feel under pressure – after all, joining a gym is meant to make you feel better – not create needless stress!
