Fernwood Foundation
Community spirit drove the establishment of the Fernwood Foundation in 2005 by Diana Williams, founder and Executive Chair of Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs.
The Fernwood Foundation is a charitable not-for-profit organisation that aims to foster greater self-reliance in women who are experiencing difficult life circumstances. Three per cent of Fernwood's profits fund the Foundation’s activities.
The vision of the Fernwood Foundation is to empower women with life challenging circumstances to shine. The Venus Program is the first major initiative that has been undertaken.
The Venus Program
The Venus Program is run in conjunction with local community service organisations. It's a ten week program designed to assist women who are disadvantaged or experiencing difficulty in their lives. It encourages these women to become more self-reliant and to kick start their path to vitality and well-being.
Topics include;
- Managing home finances
- Returning to work or study
- Self esteem
- Stress management
- Healthy diet and exercise
Throughout the Venus Program, participants are supported by Fernwood staff to set realistic goals, complete a ten week exercise program and examine areas of their lives where they can strengthen their focus and clarity. The program also provides practical tools to help participants in their everyday lives.
